The first Princess Ball was held in March of 2009 as a home coming celebration of life and the completion of treatment for our 4 year old Daughter Valicity Lee Faith after she was diagnosed with Leukemia on January 14th 2008 just 1 week before her third birthday. She underwent 13 long months of chemotherapy in Seattle before the cancer was considered to be in remission and the cycle of chemo medication was spaced out to once a month allowing us to come home. We always considered our little girl Valicity to be our princess so we felt it only fitting to have a Princess Ball with friends and family.
In April of 2010 Valicity relapsed with Leukemia. We were directly relocated back to Seattle for further intense treatment. On July 6th 2010 Valicity lost her battle with cancer gaining her wings and joining the angels above.
With the world suddenly crashing around her big brother, mother and I, we were lost without a direction to go. After several months mourning the loss of our little princess we knew we needed to do something in remembrance of her. In her 5 wonderful, but short years here on earth, she proved that she had a gift, a gift of giving and bringing people together with her cheerful personality, contagious smile and laughter.
With a promise to our daughter that when we returned from Seattle we would have another Princess Ball for her, we never imagined that it would be without her presence. We thought that The Princess Ball would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate her life and share with others some of the gifts that she gave us.
In March of 2011 we hosted the 1st Annual Princess Ball in memory of our little princess Valicity. The Ball was created and designed giving special attention to the entertainment for kids of all ages allowing them to dress up and participate in fun games and events. Along with entertaining we decided to turn the ball into a fundraiser for one of the groups that helped us out during our two and a half year battle with cancer. The first year was for Angel Flight West a nonprofit organization that helped transport us to and from Seattle during our monthly check ups.
The Ball surpassed our expectations with over 400 attendees and the ability to raise over $15,000 along with bringing public attention to this group that many local families have been able to use.
In January 2012 we hosted the 2nd Annual Princes Ball for another organization that touched our lives “The Montana Hope Project.” The Montana Hope Project made one of Valicity’s dreams come true by visiting Disney World. This event once again proved, Valicity had a gift to bring people together with over 640 attendees and raising over $24,000 allowing the Montana Hope Project the ability to make at least 4 more children’s dreams come true.
And again, in February 2013, we held the Third Annual Princess ball, raising over $35,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The 4th Annual Princess Ball will be hosted at the Red Lion Hotel in downtown Kalispell on March 1st, 2014, officially starting at 7:00 p.m. We are striving to make this event bigger and better than previous years full of entertainment and great raffle prizes and drawings including large items such as a Seattle getaway including airfare catered Seattle Mariners box suite tickets, African Safari hunting trip, and many more great gifts. Professional hair dressers will be available starting at 6:00 p.m., along with makeup and professional photographers.
All proceeds of this year’s event will be going to the Montana Hope Project. Our relationship with the Montana Hope Project is very close to our heart with what they have done for our family, sending us for Valicity’s dream trip to Disney World
